UNIVERSITY OF NEW JERSEY, JERSEY CITY – As one of the first Generation Z candidates for Hudson County Commissioner in District 2, Adrian Ghainda has earned the support of Voters of Tomorrow New Jersey. Adrian is the candidate young voters need to deliver robust institutional reform because he was born and raised in Jersey City and has years of experience in community organising under his belt.
From working to restore government openness to creating a youth advisory board to the Hudson County Commissioners, Adrian is doing what he can to ensure that all residents of Jersey City and Hudson County have a voice in local politics. According to Roshni Aneja, Director of Civic Engagement at VOT New Jersey, “candidates often overlook the importance of affordability, especially as it relates to young voters.” Not Adrian, who is leading the charge for Jersey City renters to have access to legal counsel through the “Right to Counsel JC” campaign. The reason being that the rent is just too high. Adrian, if elected County Commissioner, would push for a county-wide Right to Counsel ordinance that protects tenants’ legal rights.
Despite having a massive $600,000,000 County budget, some claim Hudson County’s slow response to the existential threat of the climate crisis is a result of a lack of political will or resources. Young voters like Adrian, who is running for county commissioner, understand the critical nature of addressing the climate crisis. He plans to put a premium on green space development, renewable energy, and energy efficiency. Additionally, Adrian has proposed funding a new Planned Parenthood Crisis Pregnancy Center in Hudson County so that residents can have access to free pregnancy tests and counselling.

Voters of Tomorrow New Jersey is happy to back a fellow member of Generation Z who is fighting for the rights of New Jersey’s hardworking citizens in Hudson County. Adrian, upon receiving the endorsement, stated, “I am proud to be endorsed by an organisation that continues to prove why we need to amplify youth voices in local politics.” District 2 residents should have a voice in policy decisions, so I plan to establish a Youth Advisory Council to advise the Board of Commissioners and advocate for issues such as affordable housing in Hudson County and increased funding for reproductive rights. Adrian, we couldn’t agree with you more. In June, Generation Z plans to go to the polls and voice our dissatisfaction with the political system.
